Business Development Executive

YASH VAISHNAV is a Business Development Executive managing intellectual property development and commercialization of therapeutic, diagnostic, medical device, and all other aspects of life science technologies at LLNL. He also leads business development activities to build long-term and strategic relationship with industry including licensing of technologies as well as industry partnership in form of negotiating and managing Collaborative Research & Development Agreements (CRADAs). Yash also supports innovation development funding (IDF), a laboratory research funding program, and advises scientists on intellectual property and industry partnership across the laboratory. Yash has over 30 years of experience in scientific research and business development. This includes about 17 years of comprehensive experience in technology transfer and business development at state institutions- the University of California (UC) system and Arizona State University (ASU), as well as federal institutions- Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) and Lawrence National Laboratory (LLNL). Prior to joining LLNL in 2016, he was a Vice President of Business Development at Arizona Technology Enterprises (AzTE), a technology transfer arm of ASU. Before that he served as a Business Development Executive at ANL, a Senior Technology Transfer Officer at the Office of Intellectual Property & Industry Sponsored Research (OIPISR) at UCLA, and a Licensing Officer at the systemwide Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) in the UC Office of President (UCOP). Yash has in-depth understanding of drug discovery, drug development, and regulatory approval of drug, biologic and medical device. Yash earned a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore; an M.Sc. in Biochemistry from the M.S. University, Baroda; a B.Sc. in Microbiology from Gujarat University, Ahmedabad, and an MBA in finance from California State University. He has held faculty positions at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), and the International Centre for Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology (ICGEB), New Delhi, and has taught advanced courses in molecular biology and virology. Yash has conducted research in molecular biology and virology, and has published research articles in scientific journals. He keeps himself abreast of developments in his primary area of interest in immunology, cancer biology, molecular biology, and biotechnology. He is a member of the Licensing Executive Society (LES), the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM), and the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). Yash's areas of interest outside of professional activity include history, geopolitics, international conflicts, and current affairs. He is also deeply interested in and passionate about the history of molecular biology, immunology, and cancer biology.
