My name is Alex Ball and I am currently pursuing a B.A. in Economics from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington. I have lived in Livermore since I was 4 years old. In addition to running Varsity Cross Country in college, my hobbies include: songwriting, playing guitar, hiking, and short-film production. During my time at IPO, I conducted retrospective case studies on commercialized LLNL technologies and wrote corresponding magazine articles. Over the course of my internship, I greatly improved my writing ability, taught myself how to use magazine layout application Adobe InDesign, and wrote an FLC Far West Region Award nomination for the category of Outstanding Commercialization Success. Additionally, I had the privilege of attending the first day of the 3rd annual National Labs Entrepreneurship Academy, a three-day program geared at teaching LLNL and SNL employees how to commercialize their science and technology innovations. After college, I would like to work for a marketing or advertising agency in the Bay Area. My internship would not have been nearly as educational or enjoyable as it was without my fellow coworkers and mentor, Richard Rankin.
