My name is Andrew Grand-Pierre and I grew up in Washington D.C. I have received my BS in Biology from Norfolk State University and my MS in Biotechnology with a concentration in Business, from Georgetown University. I have taken courses in intellectual property, marketing, and lobbying while at Georgetown and completed an internship in technology transfer at Georgetown’s Office of Technology Commercialization. I started working at the LLNL Innovation and Partnerships Office as a Business Development Executive and Market Research Analyst intern. I enjoy market research and reaching out to potential partners for commercialization. I feel that Georgetown prepared me to face the challenges at IPO. IPO has been rewarding and I feel like it was a great opportunity for my professional development. I was fortunate to able to work with some of the most advanced technologies in the world and speak with their inventors. It truly was a great experience to say the least. I always felt inspired after I attended a lecture and I made sure to attend career building workshops as well. When I had down time I would use the self-paced training U-Learn, which I found had useful marketing and management tips. On the weekends I would go to wine tastings in Palo Alto or riding my motorcycle through the canyons. I also enjoyed the 24 hour gyms and trying exotic foods. Livermore also has many hiking spots and lakes for boating and fishing. Some weekends I would participate in paintball matches. I am looking forward to continuing a career in business development and marketing. I am considering pursing an MBA or an LLM in Intellectual Property and sitting for the patent bar.
