My name is Brian Roberts, and I am currently a graduate student at Georgetown University completing my master’s degree in biotechnology with a concentration in biobusiness. I received my undergraduate degree in psychology with a concentration in neuroscience from Washington and Lee University in Virginia. I originally grew up in Rockville, Maryland which is located about 30 minutes outside of Washington D.C. After graduation, I hope to work in the technology transfer domain for a university, company, or the government and may also attain another higher education degree (Either an MBA or a law degree). Some of my hobbies include hiking, tennis, swimming, and spending time with family and friends. Most of my work at the IPO has been market research related to the lab’ s biotechnology portfolio although I have participated on several different projects. In particular, one of my favorite projects this summer involved a detailed intellectual property analysis of the neural interface portfolio which was used to create an artificial retina capable of restoring some sight to the blind. The internship at LLNL has provided me with an amazing experience and insight into the technology transfer process at a national lab while also exposing me to the most cutting - edge and innovative science available today. In addition, I have attended several tours of buildings at the lab while also frequently attending seminars on new technologies. On the weekends,I have traveled to many different beautiful locations in the Bay area and other parts of California.I have visited San Francisco several times while also exploring Yosemite National Park, Lake Tahoe, and Los Angeles.
