Sara Ashley is a recent graduate from Georgetown University, where she received her M.S. in Biotechnology with an emphasis in Bio Business. Before moving to the D.C metro area, she received her B.S. in Biology from the University of Florida in May of 2019. Despite the global Covid-19 pandemic, Sara was able to join the Innovation and Partnerships Office (IPO) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) in June 2020 as a remote intern. Her work here centered around a larger technology transfer effort focused on optimizing the impact and utilization of LLNL open source software by the private sector, with a project known as Open Source Software: Seeds of Commercialization. Her work on this project was completed under the supervision and mentorship of Dr. Hannah Farquar. Sara is excited to apply the experience she gained from this internship to the next step in her professional career, as a Manager of Market and Business Development at Parexel, a global biopharmaceutical contract research organization.
